Oulton Park Kleers Show and Shine Winners
One of the main attractions of the show was the Kleers-sponsored ‘Show and Shine’. This isn’t just a case of show up and give your car a quick clean – every single aspect is judged and marked down or up according to cleanliness, and that includes every element – wheel spokes, tyres, underneath, engine the lot. Along with ‘Best in show’ an array of other awards were given for certain classes including best JDM, best Euro and best Retro.

‘There’s much more to Show and Shine than just looking at each car’ explains Kleers judge Craig Phillips. ‘You need a good understanding and knowledge of every sub-genre and scene, as well as a keen eye for details. You can’t really give marks on a car if you don’t understand what modifications and style warrant the points’.
Throughout the day each car was meticulously judged, and the awards were as followed:
Best Modified – Sharon Holmes, Citroen C2
Best JDM – Rich McKee – Honda S2000
Retro Modified – David Fullwell – Mini Cooper
Performance Modified – Matthew Holmes – Suzuki Swift
Best Euro – Daniel Hickman – Fiat Punto
The final award was ‘Best in Show’, and it turned out to be an unusual candidate for the Kleers judges but well-deserved none the less. Nobody could fault the immaculate Toyota Hilux by Mitch aka ‘Sparks’ from the Hilux Pickup Owners Club – this beast looked ready to tackle any form of terrain thanks to 20x10in wheels, monster tyres, a 5 1/2in lift kit and much more, but was the cleanest motor on display – even right inside the suspension turrets and underneath.
